Dental Implants
Dental implants are a permanent option for replacing missing teeth.
They consist of 2 parts: a titanium screw to replace the root and a ceramic crown on top. The implant screw is surgically placed within your jaw bone and, after three months healing time, the crown is attached to the top.
The end result looks and feels just like a regular tooth.
Benefits of dental implants
Dental implants are an excellent way to replace missing teeth and restore your smile. They offer many benefits, including:
- permanent tooth replacement
- can eat hard and chewy food as normal
- improved oral health
- assists speech
- increased confidence
- reduced breakage with an even biting load
- prevents bone loss
This is a permanent tooth replacement option that looks great and simply needs to be cared for in the same way as your natural teeth.
As dental implants are fixed in your jaw, there’s no need to worry about any movement during conversations or meals. This is important for practical reasons as well as providing a confidence boost. They also enable you to eat harder or chewier foods without the risk of them falling out, like dentures sometimes do.
Dental implants provide stability and support for other teeth in your mouth, helping to prevent further tooth breakage or loss.
Eligibility
Suitability for dental implants varies from person to person, depending on gum health, condition of the jawbone and overall health in general.
Generally speaking, anyone who has healthy gums and enough bone in their jaw can be considered eligible. However, there are certain medical conditions that may make someone ineligible. We will be able to assess this and advise you on the best treatment.
Other tooth replacement options include dental bridges and dentures.
