The Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a dental program for children and teenagers who meet the following criteria:
- Aged between 0 and 17 years old
- Eligible for Medicare
- The child, parent, carer or guardian receives an eligible Centrelink payment at least once that year.

There is no need to apply or register as you will receive a letter from Services Australia if your child is eligible. If you haven’t received a letter or any communication read about eligibility checks on their website.
How much is covered?
Your child can receive up to $1095 of general dental work, over 2 consecutive years.
What dental treatments are covered?
- check-ups
- X-rays
- cleaning
- fissure sealing
- fillings
- root canals
- extractions
What dental treatments are not covered?
- orthodontic dental work
- cosmetic dental work
- any dental services in a hospital
What happens at the dentist?
We bulk bill all services provided under CDBS, you just need to bring along your up-to-date Medicare card.
