Infection Control Practices
Avon Valley Dental Centre is an Australian Accredited Practice and we take infection control very seriously. Being QIP Accredited means our cleaning and sterilising procedures abide by Australian standards.
We strive to improve our cleaning methods and staff training by keeping up-to-date with Australian Dental Association guidelines.
How do we monitor our sterilising equipment?
Our cleaning and sterilising machines are tested daily. Our autoclave (sterilisation machine) regularly undergoes scheduled maintenance and testing with a licensed technician.
Temperature and pressure are monitored for each load, so our instruments are thoroughly cleaned and sterilised after use. Records are kept for every single load to ensure our instruments are safe to use.
All staff are trained to use these machines and to handle clean and dirty instruments appropriately.
What training do our staff have?
All staff – dental nurses and dentists – are trained and qualified in Australia. The staff attend infection control training sessions yearly to keep up-to-date with the latest requirements.
Regular staff training is also done to ensure our facilities are maintained to a high standard. The team complete Hand Hygiene Audits yearly to ensure our hands are safe and clean.
